About
The Florida Book Awards is the most comprehensive book awards program in the state, honoring authors in Florida or books about Florida in eleven categories of competition. The awards cycle takes place yearly from Summer-January with winners being announced in early March and the annual Abitz Family Dinner held in late April.
Outcomes
In the 2021 competition year we had 130 books submitted, and winning authors from most categories in the competition. We had 80 attendees at the Abitz Family Dinner which included partners from across the state, jurors from each category, and winning authors and their guests.
Success
Currently success is determined by the number of submissions into the competition in a given year, diversity of materials submitted in the various categories, positive press for winning authors, and brand recognition across the state.

An engaging talk that involved the whole library community.
Success
Success involved hosting a vibrant discussion with many members of the library and FSU community attending and asking questions. The discussion was successful by these metrics.
