About
Former Graduate Assistant and current part time, OPS employee Jennifer Trawick, Discovery Data Services, spearheaded a trial run for supplementing Library of Congress subject headings with terms from the Homosaurus vocabulary for e-resources dealing with LGBTQ topics. Library of Congress subjects were supplemented with Homosaurus terms in instances where the specificity of the Homosaurus vocabulary could help improve discovery.
Outcomes
The catalog includes more inclusive language, and LGBTQ resources are now more discoverable.
Success
As this was a trial run for the project, success has come in the form of developing a workflow that can be expanded to other resource types, as well as to other remediation projects of this nature.
