Graduate Student Support

The FSU Libraries recognize the importance of graduate/post-doctoral students in the success of the research and educational goals of our organization. Below are a few of the tools and services we administer to provide a customized experience to this valuable audience.


Scholars Commons is pleased to host workshops on a wide variety of topics of interest to graduate students and faculty.  Listed here are those workshops presented by University Libraries.  The Graduate School also presents  several workshops in the Scholars Commons.  For information about workshops offered by the Graduate School please visit their website:

All workshops listed here take place in the Scholars Commons Instruction Room (005A) unless otherwise noted.

Library Express Delivery Service (LEDs)

The Library Express Delivery service is available to FSU Faculty, Post-Docs, staff members, Teaching Assistants, Research Assistants, and Graduate Assistants. Library Staff will pick-and deliver items throughout campus to designated department locations.


UBORROW allows you to request materials directly from participating libraries within Florida’s state university system. This borrowing service increases your access to the collections of the other universities in Florida and delivers more quickly than standard Interlibrary Loan.

Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a service where a student, faculty, or staff of Florida State University may obtain books or obtain photocopies of articles from other institutions. We Search the World for You... and Deliver!

Scholars Commons

The Scholars Commons, located on the lower level of Strozier Library, offers resources to facilitate study and research by faculty and graduate students.

Research Assistance

The research assistance service provides Florida State University students and faculty the opportunity to receive one-on-one help with their research needs.

Grad Boxes (Digital Media Resources for Active Learning)

The library has Active Learning technology boxes (High Definition video/audio recording devices) available for checkout by graduate students and faculty.

Open Access Publishing Fund

The Open Access Publishing Fund is to support publishing costs for open access journals and books, thereby fostering the exploration of new and innovative publishing models. The fund is administered by the Scholarly Communication Librarian.

Data Management

University Libraries works in partnership with the Office of Proposal Development and the Research Computing Center to provide resources and information about data management planning, data storage, funding agency requirements, data curation tools, and options for sharing, licensing of publishing data sets.
